MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS SAFETY

Every member of management will insure that:

  1. Each new employee undergoes initial review of all rules related to his job and that he knows and understands them. He will also make sure that a complete review of all the rules is held with each employee on an annual basis and make sure that all rules are enforced.

  2. Any unsafe practice or condition reported to him by an employee is promptly placed in the hazard report system and followed up promptly. He will conduct (and record the results of ) a formal inspection of the entire physical plant area under his responsibility not less than once a month and develop a system to make sure that all critical parts in his area are inspected as necessary or required.

  3. Each employee receives well planned, appropriate job instruction with every new or different job assigned to him and that safety tips are given frequently during routine contacts on a day-to-day basis.

  4. Each employee receives an adequately complete induction to his job on all aspects of safety and efficiency before permitted to work and that several follow-up contacts are made with him during his probationary period to determine that he knows and follows all the required standards.

  5. Each employee under his supervision attends a weekly safety meeting that has been properly planned and presented by a member of the group.

  6. All employees know, understand and practice the principles of good housekeeping and that  his area of responsibility reflects this desired goal at all times.

  7. All employees are provided with the required personal protective equipment and motivated to wear it as prescribed at all times.

  8. Every accident resulting in personal injury or property damage is promptly and efficiently investigated and results reported on the supervisor’s report form before the end of the shift.

  9. Each employee in his charge is recognized frequently on a personal basis when he demonstrates behavior that is safe or desired and this recognition should reflect the supervisor’s personal enthusiasm, constant interest and deep concern for the safety and welfare of his employees.

  10. His personal example of safe behavior sets the best possible pattern to follow for everyone with whom he comes in contact with.
